Fluid Mechanics
by Samuel Sighicelli and Benjamin de la Fuente (2020-21)
With Caravaggio and Ensemble Court-circuit
DESCRIPTION
Fluid Mechanics is an immersive concert exploring an experience of the City: an imagined city, traversed through sound and music, perceived in its sensory, physical dimension. The city is interaction, speed, tension, joy, fear, exchange, violence, and exhilaration; repellent and engrossing at the same time; self-evident for humans as social creatures, yet at the same time against nature. It is both fluidity and a kaleidoscope of images and spaces, collisions and ruptures. A convergence of civilization and savagery, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for today’s composer.
Benjamin de la Fuente and Samuel Sighicelli share the composition of movements that alternate and flow like a script following a carefully devised protocol.
Caravaggio brings their 15 years of experience exploring energy and sound, while Ensemble Court-Circuit, specialized in contemporary creation, adds a more gestural instrumental dimension.
The concert is conceived as a three-dimensional sonic experience with the audience positioned at the center of a ten-speaker diffusion system, spatializing the real time treatment of the ten musicians along with sounds taken from the city and reworked as musical elements.
